How to Applying for an Australia Awards Scholarship 2024

Prior to submitting your application, take the following steps:

  1. Verify the application period for your country, noting both the commencement and closure dates. Identify your country of citizenship/residency from the list of participating countries for specific details on eligibility, priority areas, and the application process. Refer to the participating countries page for opening and closing dates.

  2. If you plan to apply, familiarize yourself with the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook. This comprehensive resource covers general eligibility requirements, selection procedures, entitlements, and responsibilities. Be aware that the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade reserves the right to revise and update the handbook without prior notice.

  3. Note that application processes may vary – some countries permit online submissions, while others mandate hard-copy applications. Refer to your participating country profile for detailed information.

For Online Applications:

  • Consult your relevant participating country profile for the application portal link. Notably, Indonesia and the Philippines do not utilize the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS). Locate the application links for these countries in their respective Country Profiles.

  • During online registration, respond to questions to establish your eligibility. Subsequently, you will receive a unique registration number, username, and password.

  • It's not mandatory to submit your application immediately. You can create a draft application form and continually update it, along with supporting documents, until the specified closing date indicated on the relevant participating country profile.

  • Once submitted, applications are immutable. Therefore, we strongly recommend that online applicants complete their submissions well in advance of the closing date. OASIS experiences high traffic in the days leading up to the deadline, potentially causing delays. For assistance, refer to the Applicant's Online User Manual.

For Mail Submissions:

  • If online submission is not feasible, apply by mail. Check your participating country profile for contact details to obtain a hardcopy application form and any required templates, such as referee reports (if applicable).

  • Completed hard copy application forms and supporting documentation must reach the specified deadline for your country. Refer to the opening and closing dates provided for each country.

Regarding Supporting Documentation:

  • Refer to your participating country profile to determine if additional supporting documents, such as referee reports, are required. A referee report template (in PDF and DOCX formats) is available for reference.
