SWUFE “The Belt and Road” Scholarship in China for International Students

SWUFE provides "The Belt and Road" Scholarship to international students who want to pursue their higher studies in China. I. Scholarship Details SWUFE provides two types of scholarships, Full Scholarship and Partial Scholarship.

(1) Full Scholarship The full scholarship covers the following expenses:

A. Tuition fee 

B. Accommodation on campus 

C. Living allowance: CNY 1,500/month for bachelor's students; CNY 2,000/month for master's students; CNY 2,500/month for PhD students.

(2) Partial Scholarship The partial scholarship covers tuition fees only.

II. Application Time The application period for the SWUFE “The Belt and Road” Scholarship is from January 1st, 2023, to April 30th, 2023 (UTC/GMT +08:00).

III. Eligibility To apply for the SWUFE “The Belt and Road” Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport in accordance with the Nationality Law of The People’s Republic of China and meet the requirements set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of The PRC and other relevant regulations. They must also be in good health and have good grades.

Applicants must abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government, local government, and SWUFE.

Applicants' educational background should meet one of the following conditions:

(1) High school students (applying for a bachelor's degree program), undergraduates (applying for a master's degree program), or postgraduates (applying for a doctoral degree program) who will graduate in the current year must obtain a nationally recognized corresponding diploma before enrolling in the year of admission, otherwise, the admission qualification will be invalid.

(2) Applicants should have a nationally recognized high school diploma (applying for a bachelor's degree program), bachelor's degree (applying for a master's degree program), or master's degree (applying for a doctoral degree program).

Age limit 

(1) Applying for a bachelor's degree program: 18-30 years old 

(2) Applying for a master's degree program: 18-35 years old 

(3) Applying for a doctoral degree program: 18-40 years old

Applicants should meet the age limit by September 1st, 2023.

Requirements of language proficiency 

(1) Chinese-taught program A. Applicants who provide proof of studying in a 2-year or above degree program in which the teaching language is Chinese, do not need to provide a language certificate. B. Applicants who passed HSK Level 4 (applying for a bachelor's degree program) or HSK Level 5 (applying for a master's or doctoral degree program) with each subject scored over 60 points.

(2) English-taught program A. Applicants whose native language is English or who can provide proof of studying in a 2-year or above degree program in which the teaching language is English, do not need to provide a language certificate. B. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to provide a score report of an English language test (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 95 and above).

 How to Apply To apply for the SWUFE “The Belt and Road” Scholarship, 

applicants need to follow the below steps:

Step 1: Online Application Applicants need to visit the SWUFE International Students Service System and complete the online application form. They need to submit the following documents along with the application form:

A. Scanned copy of the passport (photo page) B. Scanned copy of the highest diploma obtained and academic transcripts C. Two recommendation letters D. Study plan or research proposal (not less than 800 words) E. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Photocopy) and Blood Test Report.

Step 2: Pay Application Fee After submitting the online application form, applicants need to pay a non-refundable application fee of 600 RMB. They can pay the fee through bank cards with UnionPay logo or online payment.

Step 3: Submit Application Documents Applicants need to submit all the required application documents (hard copies) by post to the International Students Office of SWUFE. The application documents should include the following:

A. Application form for Chinese Government Scholarship (printed by the online application system) B. Original Notarized Certificate of the highest diploma. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. C. Original Academic transcripts D. A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English. (A minimum of 800 words for graduate programs or 2000 words for undergraduate programs) E. Two Recommendation Letters in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors F. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy) and Blood Test Report.

 Bond 

Recipients of the SWUFE “The Belt and Road” Scholarship must comply with Chinese laws and regulations and SWUFE’s rules and regulations, respect Chinese social customs, and do not participate in any activities that violate China's laws and regulations.

Recipients must also fulfill their study plan or research proposal, attend the annual review, and pass the examinations of their academic performance. Failure to do so will result in the suspension or termination of the scholarship.
