2024 Chinese Government Scholarship Call for International Students to Study at UCAS

APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 15th, 2024 (Beijing Time)

The Chinese government, aiming to foster global understanding and collaboration, offers scholarship programs to support international students, educators, and researchers in pursuing studies or research in Chinese universities. Acting on behalf of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) invites exceptional young graduate students worldwide and provides them with full scholarships.

Value and Benefits

Tuition Fee:

  • Successful PhD students awarded the scholarship are exempt from the tuition fee of RMB 40,000/year.
  • Successful Master students awarded the scholarship are exempt from the tuition fee of RMB 30,000/year.

Application Fee:

  • Successful applicants awarded the scholarship are exempt from the application fee of RMB 600.

Monthly Stipend:

  • Successful PhD applicants receive a monthly stipend of RMB 5,000, with RMB 1,500 provided by the supervisor or the CAS Institute.
  • Successful Master applicants receive a monthly stipend of RMB 3,500, with RMB 500 provided by the supervisor or the CAS Institute.

Accommodation Fee:

  • Successful applicants may reside in UCAS Beijing campus for free or apply for an accommodation subsidy.
  • Subsidies are capped at RMB 700/month for master’s students/general visiting students and RMB 1000/month for doctoral students/senior visiting students.

Medical Insurance:

  • RMB 800/person.

Sponsorship Period:

  • Master students: 36 months (no extension)
  • PhD students: 36 months (with a permitted extension of up to 12 months)

Eligibility Criteria for 024 Chinese Government Scholarship Call for International Students to Study at UCAS

Applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, showing goodwill towards China and adhering to its laws, decrees, and UCAS regulations.
  • Be proficient in English or Mandarin.
  • Meet the education background and age requirements:
    • Master’s program applicants should hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese bachelor’s and be under 35 years old.
    • PhD program applicants should hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese master’s and be under 40 years old.
  • Fulfill the general admission criteria for international students as outlined in the 2024 Enrollment Guide.
  • Not have accepted any other sponsorship at the time of application or during the scholarship period.
  • Devote full time to studies at the research institute they are enrolled in, without engaging in other employment.

Note:

  • Applicants pursuing a Master's or doctoral degree in China are ineligible for this scholarship.

Application Materials:

  • Refer to the Call for 2024 Doctoral Programs for International Students and the Call for 2024 Master's Programs for International Students.

Online Application:

  • Log in to the Online CSC Application System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login), complete and submit the scholarship application.
  • UCAS agency number: 80001.
  • Log in to the Online Admission System for International Students at UCAS (http://adis.ucas.ac.cn), follow instructions, and submit your application before the deadline.
  • Select “Chinese Government Scholarship” in your application.

Additional Information UCAS also accepts students awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program, -EU Program, and others. Visit https://www.csc.edu.cn/ for application details. Successful applicants must register as per the Admission Notice. Requests for registration delays require approval from the relevant department. The registration date in the Admission Notice marks the beginning of the scholarship. Adhering to relevant regulations is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in scholarship suspension or revocation.
