Al Qasimi Foundation Doctoral Research Grants 2024

The Al Qasimi Foundation's Doctoral Research Grants, open to PhD students globally, support innovative research contributing to policymaking in the United Arab Emirates, with a primary focus on Ras Al Khaimah. With two awards available annually, the grants cover all associated expenses for field research, including airfares, accommodation, living costs, and research support. Recipients are expected to produce working papers and present their findings to the local research community.

Grant Objectives:

  • Empower distinguished doctoral candidates to conduct impactful, applied research benefiting the Ras Al Khaimah community.
  • Foster high-quality research to enhance the region's research capacity, promoting collaboration among international universities and national institutions in the UAE.
  • Facilitate cross-cultural exchange, sparking curiosity, new ideas, and mutual understanding.

Grant Eligibility: Prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Current PhD student at an accredited university in good academic standing.
  • Minimum TOEFL iBT score of 85 or IELTS score of 6.5 (if English is a secondary language).
  • Completion of all PhD coursework and readiness for the field research phase.
  • Approval or pending approval of the research proposal by the applicant's advisor and graduate program.
  • Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for the proposed research.
  • Focus on the UAE, specifically Ras Al Khaimah, addressing education, public policy, or related social science issues.

Note: Business, marketing, agronomy, engineering, IT, computer science, laboratory-based or scientific studies, and medical degree research areas do not qualify.

Selection Criteria: Grants are awarded based on merit, considering academic performance, relevance of proposed research, and the applicant’s intended field of study. Preference is given to those pursuing degrees in education, public policy, or closely related fields. The Al Qasimi Foundation Directors and Advisory Board serve as the selection committee.

Application Process: Before applying, review the grant handbook for important information. Submissions for the 2024 cycle open on November 1, 2023, with a closing deadline of March 1, 2024. Create an account in the Foundation’s grant management portal and follow the Doctoral Research Grant application instructions. Submit all required documents, including an online application form, cover letter, CV or resume, official transcripts, TOEFL/IELTS score report, research proposal, budget template, IRB approval, and two reference letters.

All materials submitted become the property of the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research.

Application Deadline: All required materials must be submitted through the grant management portal by March 1, 2024. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants can expect an update on their proposal status by the end of May 2024.
