British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM: Empowering Future Engineers

Introduction: In collaboration with the British Council, Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is proud to offer five scholarships tailored exclusively for female students hailing from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. These scholarships are aimed at fostering gender diversity in the field of engineering and empowering women to pursue postgraduate studies in STEM.

Who is Eligible?: These scholarships are open to international female students commencing one of five one-year Masters courses in engineering at ARU in September 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

Are you a woman eager to pursue a postgraduate program in STEM? Here's what you need to know to be eligible for the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM:

  1. Gender: Open to all women, including those who identify as female.
  2. Nationality: Hold a passport and permanent residency in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka.
  3. Course Application: Apply for one of the specified postgraduate programs at ARU listed below:
    • MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering
    • MSc Mechanical Engineering
    • MSc Engineering Management
    • MSc Construction Project Management
    • MSc Construction and Civil Engineering Management You must apply for your chosen course before applying for the scholarship.
  4. Education: Complete all undergraduate degree components enabling entry into a UK postgraduate program. Commence the postgraduate program in the UK in 2024.
  5. UK Study Experience: Have not previously pursued higher education in the UK or lived in the UK in the last 12 months.
  6. English Proficiency: Meet ARU’s English Language requirements by June 19, 2024.
  7. Financial Need: Demonstrate financial need in your application.
  8. Return Commitment: Commit to returning to your home country for a minimum of two years after completing the scholarship.
  9. Additional Requirements: Show active involvement in your field, commitment to socio-economic advancement, and a plan to promote STEM among women. Agree to share personal data with the British Council and engage in post-study activities.

Section 2: Financial Support Overview

Receive comprehensive financial support to fuel your academic journey and career development:

  • Tuition Fee: £17,700
  • Return Airfare (economy)
  • Living Stipend/Allowance
  • Administrative Costs (visa/NHS surcharge)
  • Career Development Bursary: Up to £2,000 to support approved activities aligned with your career development plan.

Notes:

  • Financial support is contingent upon satisfactory academic progress.
  • Final details on finance disbursement will be provided upon scholarship confirmation.

Scholarship Benefits: The successful applicants will receive a comprehensive scholarship package covering full tuition fees, round-trip airfare, a generous monthly living stipend, and a Career Development Bursary. Additional financial support is provided for applicants with dependents.
