SAARC Scholarship Program 2024 study free in Bangladesh

Application Timeline:

Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI), the academic institution of the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) under the Faculty of Medicine, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, is now accepting applications for scholarships and admission to its Eighth batch of M.Sc. in Rehabilitation Science program. This two-year program, funded by the SAARC Development Fund (SDF), is open to candidates from SAARC member countries.

Scholarship Details:

  • Total Seats: 30 for the 8th batch.
  • Scholarships: 27 seats available, comprising ten (10) full scholarships and five (5) partial scholarships for students from SAARC member countries (excluding Bangladesh). Seven (7) full scholarships and five (5) partial scholarships are reserved for students from Bangladesh.
  • Self-financing: Three (3) seats available for self-financing students.

The scholarship covers the entire two-year duration of the master's program. It cannot be altered or extended beyond the study program period. The institute will directly pay the tuition fees, and no additional grants for family members are provided. Eligibility:

  • Citizenship: Candidates must be citizens of any SAARC member country.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Medicine, Nursing, Prosthetics & Orthotics, or an equivalent health-related degree from a public university or recognized by the relevant government authority.
  • Experience: Completion of at least one year of internship training/work experience in a recognized hospital/institute/center approved by the relevant government authority.

Selection Criteria:

  • International Students: Nominations based on academic performance, English proficiency, relevant experience, number of publications, and a motivation letter.
  • Bangladeshi Students: Nominations based on academic performance, English proficiency, relevant experience, number of publications, a motivation letter, and an admission test (written & viva examination).

Detailed Instructions for International Candidates

International students (excluding Bangladesh and belonging to SAARC member states) must follow the comprehensive guidelines outlined below for the application process.

Submission of Hard Copy: a) Submit hard copies of the following application forms to the Bangladesh missions (Embassies or high commissions) in your respective countries:

  1. (No. 1) Admission and Scholarship Application Form
  2. (No. 2) Application Form - Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, BD (in triplicate)

Include the following documents along with the hard copies:

  1. Recent passport-size photographs (one copy with each set)
  2. Photocopy of passport (one copy with each set)
  3. All academic documents (Certificate and Marksheet/Transcript of SSC/O-Level/Equivalent, HSC/A-Level/Equivalent, BSC/Equivalent) - one copy with each set
  4. Other applicable documents as per the "Checklist" of (No. 1) Admission and Scholarship Application Form, such as copies of relevant experience certificates, IELTS certificate (if any), journal publications (if any), etc. - one copy with each set.

Important Note: All academic documents and relevant papers must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the candidate's home country. Successful applicants will be required to present the original academic certificates and mark sheets/transcripts during the admission process.

Submission of Soft Copy: b) Email scanned copies of the following documents to: bhpi.mrs@gmail.com

  1. Scan copies of application forms (No. 1 & No. 2)
  2. Scan copies of the aforementioned documents (1 to 5)

Application Fee: An application fee of USD 70 is applicable for the admission of each foreign student in the master's program in a health-related discipline in Bangladesh. This fee must be submitted to the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of Bangladesh. BHPI will handle the submission of the application fee (USD 70) to DGME on behalf of the candidates selected for full/partial scholarships who confirm acceptance of offer letters.
