Yousef Jameel Scholarship - Doctoral Scholarship at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

In partnership with the Jameel Education Foundation UK, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is pleased to offer two annual scholarships to doctoral candidates in various natural science fields including informatics/computer science, mathematics, biology/biomedicine, chemistry, physics, geography, and agricultural science.

General Information:

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from the Arab region (such as Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, etc.), as well as Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Sudan (both citizenship and residence are required).
  • Priority Research Fields: Emphasis on sustainable/ecologic agriculture, plant-based medicine/pharmacy, renewable energy production, phytopharmacy and phytomedicine, analytics and structure-activity relationship, and drug development.

Application Requirements:

  • Supervision Confirmation: Written confirmation of supervision by a professor from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
  • Citizenship and Residency: Applicants must hold citizenship from eligible countries and currently reside there, demonstrating a willingness to return to their home country.
  • Academic Qualifications: Equivalent to a German university degree and fulfill the requirements for admission to doctoral candidacy.
  • Language Proficiency: TOEFL©IBT score (minimum 80) or IELTS© Academic score (minimum Band 6). German language skills not required initially but expected to be learned after arrival.

  • Statement of Purpose (no more than 2 pages)
  • Motivation for pursuing a doctoral degree and relevance of research project
  • Academic Curriculum Vitae (in tabular form, no more than 2 pages)
  • Doctoral Project Summary and Description (5-10 pages)
  • Confirmation of supervision from a Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
  • Two letters of recommendation from university professors
  • Master's diploma transcript and degree certificate
  • Proof of language proficiency (TOEFL© or IELTS© test score)
