n the year 2024, the Korean government endeavors to extend invitations to 2,200 international students for participation in the 2024 Global Korea Scholarship program tailored for graduate degrees.
Prospective candidates are required to apply either through a Korean Embassy corresponding to their nationality (embassy track) or directly to one of the designated universities (university track).

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The Global Korea Scholarship endeavors to provide international students with the opportunity to pursue academic degrees at esteemed higher educational institutions in Korea. This initiative aims to foster international education exchange and bolster the bonds of friendship between Korea and participating countries. (Note: The Korean Government Scholarship Programs were consolidated and rebranded as the Global Korea Scholarship in 2010, hereafter referred to as GKS.)
PROGRAMS AND UNIVERSITIES
Degree Programs:
Master’s Degree: 1 year of Korean language program + 2 years of degree program
Doctoral Degree: 1 year of Korean language program + 3 years of degree program
Research Period: 6 months or 1 year
Application Tracks:
Japanese applicants will be considered and awarded under the Korea-Japan Government Scholarship Program's quota. (The final number of successful candidates may be subject to adjustment).

Evening, short-term, online, and distant-learning programs are not applicable.
Applicants must apply only to universities and departments listed in the "University Information" file provided on the GKS Notice post on the Study in Korea website.

ELIGIBILITY
Nationality:
Applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED designated countries invited to participate in the GKS program.
Applicants or their parents must not hold Korean citizenship.
Dual citizenship holders, including Korean citizenship, are ineligible unless they renounce their Korean citizenship and provide documentation as proof.
Level of Education:
Master’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree or expected graduation by July 31st, 2024.
Doctoral Degree: Master’s degree.
Research: Post-Doctorate or doctoral degree.
Exchange Professor Program: Must be currently teaching at a university as a professor.
Grades:
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or ranking from the previous degree program must meet specific conditions.
Applicants must submit an academic transcript with CGPA or ranking information.
Age:
Must be under 40 years of age (born after September 1, 1984).
Academic professors in Official Development Assistance (ODA) recipient countries under 45 years of age (born after September 1, 1979) are eligible.
Health:
All applicants must be in good mental and physical health to study in Korea for the program's duration.
Additional Requirements for Global Network Program:
No age limitations.
Must be current/prospective officials, professionals, or students in the field of global affairs.
Master’s degree program within a 2-year duration only (No Korean language program).
RESTRICTIONS
Restrictions on Eligibility:
Various restrictions apply to individuals who have graduated from Korean high schools or universities, including those who completed online curriculums from Korean educational institutions.
Current final-year students at Korean universities cannot apply.
Previous recipients of Korean government scholarships for degree programs are ineligible.
Former GKS scholars whose scholarships were terminated during their enrollment due to withdrawal or forfeiture are ineligible.
Additional Restrictions:
Duplicate submissions are prohibited.
Applicants must comply with any additional restrictions or eligibility criteria set by each university or department.
