A*STAR COMPUTING AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (ACIS) SCHOLARSHIP 2024 /2025


Introduction

The ASTAR Computing and Information Science (ACIS) Scholarship, named in honor of Nguyen Xuan Phi, aims to attract and nurture top talents aspiring to pursue a PhD in computing and information science (CIS) disciplines. This scholarship opens doors to exciting careers in ASTAR, industry R&D labs, technology enterprises, spin-off companies, and academia. Scholars will be immersed in real-world issues across the computing science spectrum, ranging from deep learning for healthcare to modelling and simulation for advanced applications.


Eligibility

A*STAR COMPUTING AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (ACIS) Scholarship eligiblity criteria as follows

  • Singaporeans and other nationals are welcome to apply.
  • Non-Singaporeans must have completed or are on track to complete a degree in a Singapore autonomous university.
  • Have obtained, or are on track to obtain, at least a 2nd Upper Class Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Applicants in the last semester of their final year of undergraduate studies are welcome; however, the scholarship will only be awarded if they meet A*STAR’s requirements.
  • Satisfy the criteria for and gain admission to a PhD programme in an autonomous university.
  • Strong interest to pursue a CIS research career in industry R&D labs, technology enterprises, spin-off companies, and/or academia.

  • Tuition and Allowances for up to four years:
    • Full tuition fees
    • Monthly sustenance allowance:
      • Singapore Citizens: S$5,800
      • Singapore Permanent Citizens: S$4,800
      • Non-Singapore Citizens: S$4,550
    • Additional allowances:
      • Book allowance
      • Computer allowance
      • Conference allowance
      • Miscellaneous allowance
      • Thesis allowance
    • Support for up to 12 months of overseas attachment
  • Post-doctoral Opportunity:
    • Eligibility for the A*STAR International Fellowship providing up to 2 years of funding support for post-doctoral training in a top overseas laboratory or institution.
