Eligibility

Criteria

  • Singapore Citizen of Indian Origin: Applicants must hold Singaporean citizenship and trace their roots to the Indian community.
  • Year of Study: Eligible candidates must be in their 2nd, 3rd, or Honours year of study, demonstrating commendable academic performance. First-year students will be considered based on prior educational qualifications and grades.
  • Passion for Community Service: Applicants should exhibit a strong commitment to pursuing a career in the community and social service sector.
  • Enrollment in Recognized Courses: Candidates must be enrolled in Social Work or Counselling programs accredited by the Singapore Association of Social Workers or the Singapore Association of Counselling.

Scholarship Details

  • Value of Award: Recipients will receive a study award of up to $5,000.
  • Bond: Bond periods will vary depending on the duration of the study. Students are required to complete 20 days of internships with SINDA before graduation and commit to a one-year bond with SINDA post-graduation.
  • Internship Flexibility: SINDA reserves the right to allow students to fulfill their bond obligations in another social agency, subject to approval.

Application Process

  • Submission Deadline: Applicants must submit their applications two months before the start of the semester or course.
  • Supporting Documents: Candidates are required to upload various supporting documents, including a letter of offer from the institution, an essay explaining their course choice and need for scholarship, relevant certificates, NRIC copies, income verification, and other supporting documents.
  • Application Processing Time: The processing of applications takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
