Introduction

The SM Jaleel Foundation – Education Trust Fund Assistance Scheme Scholarship was launched in August 2019. This scholarship aims to provide financial support to deserving Malay/Muslim students pursuing higher education at local institutions in Singapore. By alleviating financial burdens, it encourages students to excel in their studies and achieve their academic goals.


Objective

The primary objective of this scholarship is to offer financial assistance to financially disadvantaged Malay/Muslim students at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), local polytechnics, and universities, enabling them to pursue their educational aspirations.

Eligibility

  • Nationality: Malay/Muslim students
  • Residency: Singapore Citizen with a valid NRIC
  • Financial Status: Household Per Capita Income (PCI) of S$750.00 and below
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Outstanding results in:
      • Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘N’ level examinations, with best three (3) subjects not exceeding six (6) points; or
      • Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘O’ level examinations, with five (5) distinctions; or
      • Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘A’ level examinations, with three (3) distinctions; or
      • NITEC or Higher NITEC with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 and above; or
      • Certificate of Merit from a local Polytechnic; or
      • Minimum aggregate of 37 points for International Baccalaureate Diploma

Scholarship Benefits

    • Quantum: $4,000
    • Number of Recipients: 5
  • Polytechnic:

    • Quantum: $2,000
    • Number of Recipients: 5
  • ITE:

    • Quantum: $1,000
    • Number of Recipients: 5

The scholarship covers educational expenses such as tuition fees, course materials, living expenses, and fees for other educational activities organized by the institution the recipient is enrolled in.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the MyMENDAKI portal to access the application form.
  2. First-time applicants must create an account to proceed with the application.
  3. Complete and submit the form online.

Mandatory Documents Required:

  1. Front and Back Copy of NRIC
  2. Recent Academic Results
  3. Letter of Acceptance from Institution (if any)
  4. Family Members’ Particulars Form
  5. Income Declaration Form for self-employed and unemployed family members
  6. Parents’ or Guardian’s Latest Payslip / Letter from Employer Confirming Latest CPF statement
  7. 150-word essay on achievements & goals for the next 5 & 10 years (MS Word format)
  8. Other supporting Documents (if any)
  • Incomplete applications and documents will not be processed.
  • Submit ONE bursary OR scholarship application only.
  • Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will be rejected.

Bond

  • Duration: 1 Academic Year
  • Recipient must re-apply to be considered for the Scholarship in the following academic year, subject to meeting all the criteria.

Other Details

  • Applications will only be considered upon receipt of all fully completed required documents.
  • Shortlisting of candidates is based on competition amongst the eligible applicants and acceptance into the institution.
  • Interviews may be held for shortlisted candidates.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
