Introduction
The NUS Sports Scholarship is a prestigious university-level award under the Student Life Scholarships umbrella. It is specifically designed for highly talented incoming freshmen who excel both in the classroom and the sporting arena. As ambassadors of student life, scholars are expected to exemplify the core NUS values of innovation, resilience, excellence, respect, and integrity, while contributing meaningfully to the campus sports scene.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the NUS Sports Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be Singapore Citizens.
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential and qualities.
- Possess excellent co-curricular activity records, with a strong focus on sports participation and representation.
- Possess outstanding academic results (Singapore-Cambridge GCE A Level, local Polytechnic Diploma, IB Diploma, NUS High School Diploma, or equivalent).
- Be applying for admission to a full-time undergraduate degree programme at NUS.
*Limited scholarships may be available for Dentistry, Medicine, and Law. Transfer applicants are not eligible.
Field of Study
The scholarship is tenable for all full-time undergraduate programmes at NUS, excluding Music. Scholars may transfer to other programmes during their candidature, provided the new programme is not Music.

Scholarship Benefits
- Tuition Fees: 100% coverage of subsidised tuition fees (after MOE Tuition Grant).
- Living Allowance: S$6,000 annual living allowance.
- Accommodation: S$5,550 annual allowance if staying on campus.
- Global Exposure: 1 Semester Guaranteed Student Exchange Programme (SEP) placement with one of 300+ partner universities.
- Campus Stay: 2 Years Priority consideration for on-campus accommodation (Halls/Houses/Residences).
- Bond: This is a Bond-free scholarship.
Number of Awards
Awards are granted to candidates of sufficient merit. NUS reserves the right not to award any scholarship if no suitable candidates are identified.
Application Start and Closing Date
For the Academic Year 2026/2027:
- Application Opens: 1 February 2026
- Application Deadline: 19 March 2026
- Interviews: Late-April onwards
- Outcome Notification: By late-May 2026
How to Apply
- Submit your NUS Admission application first.
- Submit one common scholarship application via the Applicant Portal to be considered for the Sports Scholarship and other NUS awards.
- Upload supporting documents (sports records, CCA certificates) to the portal.
- Ensure one Referee Recommendation Form is submitted online by your Principal or Tutor.
Application Fee
There is no separate fee for the scholarship application; however, standard NUS admission application fees apply.
Bond
The scholarship is bond-free. You are free to pursue your chosen career path immediately after graduation.
Other Details (Renewal Terms)
The scholarship is renewed every semester provided the holder:
- Maintains a GPA of at least 3.50 (top 80% for Dentistry, Med, Law).
- Actively trains and represents NUS/Singapore in major competitions.
- Displays good conduct and organizes sports events in partnership with the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
