Indian ICCR Postgraduate (PhD) Scholarships offered under Nehru Memorial and Commonwealth (Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam) Scholarship Scheme -2024/25
Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankans for the award of 15 Postgraduate (PhD) scholarships offered by the Government of India under the Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Commonwealth for the academic year 2024/25.
General Eligibility Requirements:
(a) All applicants should be citizens of Sri Lanka. (b) Age limit should be between 18-50 years for the deadline 25.02.2024. (c) Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree and Master's degree in the relevant field of study from a recognized university, by University Grants Commission, Sri Lanka. (d) Government sector employees should submit their applications through the Head of the institute.Fields of study:
01 Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, Commerce, Humanities and Arts - 10 02 Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme - 05The ICCR scholarship council does not arrange admission in Medical/Paramedical (Nursing/Physiotherapy/Anesthesia etc.) Fashion Design/Law. Candidates are informed to select only one scholarship programme either Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme or Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme.

Terms of Award:
The Scholarship schemes cover full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course, monthly sustenance allowance, and an annual grant for books and stationary. In addition, airfare to the nearest destination in India and an annual grant for educational tours to various parts of the country, apart from these several other auxiliary benefits are also offered. Selected candidates would also be provided hostel facility inside the respective campus.Special Notes: a) Award of the scholarship Conditions laid down in this notification may vary as per the criteria imposed by the Indian authorities without prior notice. b) Candidates who received scholarship would select the Higher Educational institutes recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. c) If any candidate declines the offer after the selection process, he/she shall not be considered for any of the scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education. d) Candidates who have already been nominated for a scholarship offered by the Ministry of Education, will not be considered for the same level of study, under this scholarship scheme. e) Extension of the period of the scholarship will not be recommended by this Ministry.

Applications:
a) Online application is available at: https://foreignscholarships.mohe.gov.lk/ b) The deadline of the submission of the application is 25th February 2024 c) Applicants should submit only one application via online portal and not required to send by post. d) No application from permanent employee of government sector, University or a state Corporation will be entertained unless channeled through the Head of the Institution concerned. e) Any statement in the application, which is found to be incorrect/false will liable to disqualification at any time and will lead to the withdrawal of the award. Incomplete in any respect or received late, will be rejected.Nominations & Selections: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview by the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka within a short notice. The Nomination will be forwarded to the Indian ICCR scholarship awarding authority through High Commission of India. No candidate should treat his/her nomination for this Scholarship as the confirmation of award is a matter entirely within the discretion of the awarding authority. Any form of canvassing either written or verbal will be considered as a disqualification for a scholarship.
